Rugby World Cup Theme
The 2011 Tamariki Sports & Cultural Day was co-hosted at Te Kura Kaupapa Maori a Rohe o Mangere on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th August 2011.
The Trust initiative for this year was to coincide a theme based on the Rugby World Cup which included 20 kura kaupapa. This was formalized with a draw carried out by RWC, CEO Martin Snedden.
Thursday 25 August, a powhiri hosting manuhiri from 20 countries, past RWC players, Consulate Generals and Government MP’s. Those guests were invited back to the various kura or marae to be entertained with culture and presentation on that countries history and rugby history.
Friday 26 August , over 1200 tamariki took part in a World Rippa Rugby and Ki-o-Rahi Games. These numbers were complimented by kaiako, volunteers and sports co-ordinators.
