The annual black-tie event takes place at Auckland’s Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau.

Part of UMA Broadcasting, Waatea 603 AM is Auckland’s only Māori radio station, providing an extensive bilingual schedule to its listeners including talkback, news, current affairs and music. Waatea 603 AM general manager Bernie O’Donnell (Te Ati Āwa, Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāi Tahu) says the special sports broadcast from the official ceremony will include on-stage presentations and entertainment, interviews with leading Māori personalities, and profiles of the awards, finalists and scholarship recipients.

Live coverage will begin at 5.00 pm on the station’s Auckland frequency, streamed live on the website, www.waateanews.com, and will be available to the national iwi radio network. The organisation will also provide coverage of the awards in its Māori and English language news bulletins which are broadcast on the 603 AM frequency.
