SUPREME HALBERG AWARD WINNER – LISA CARRINGTON

Lisa Carrington Ngāti Porou, Te Aitanga ā Māhaki last night won – Sportswomen of the Year and the Supreme Halberg Award Winner at the 54th Halberg Foundation Sports Awards – this award sits alongside her 2016 Maori Sportsperson of the Year Award.

Lisa, firstly had to overcome strong competition in the sportswomen finalists, Dame Valerie Adams, Lydia Ko and Luuka Jones – then the competition for the supreme award came from Mahe Drysdale, Liam Malone, and Peter Burling/Blair Tuke.

Maori had a strong presence at the Awards with Co-MC Melodie Robinson, Presenter Louisa Wall, Suzie Bates, Entertainer Anika Moa, Hall of Fame inductee Reuben Wiki and special MSA guests, Kaumatua Sir Tamati and Lady Tilly Reedy and Trust Chair Mr Pine Harrison.
