Swimming, Squash and Waka Ama head the recipients of the 32nd Aotearoa Māori Sports Awards.

The supreme winner was swimming prodigy, Olympian finalist and Commonwealth Games triple gold medalist, Lewis Clareburt (Tainui).

World No4 Squash star and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Joelle King (Ngāti Porou) edged out a strong field of finalists to take out the Senior Māori Women’s title.

The Awards acknowledged x11 individual Māori world champions and X8 Māori world champion teams.

Hosted by Te Tohu Taakaro o Aotearoa Charitable Trust the 32nd Annual Māori Sports Awards at Turangawaewae Marae, Ngaruawahia last night (Saturday 26th November).

National indigenous broadcaster, Whakaata Māori, is screening 1 ½hr delayed highlights on Sunday 11 December from 6.30 pm.
