I am gutted that I will be unable to attend this Saturday’s 24th Maori Sports Awards at the Vodafone Events Centre, as I am away celebrating my 49th wedding anniversary with my wife, Lady Janice. Especially as my close mate, Stacey Jones ONZM and another good bloke, Phillip Tataurangi, will be inducted into the Maori Sports Hall of Fame.
These Maori Sports Awards are great nights, founded by my late great mate and fellow butcher, Albie Pryor, with the best in Maori entertainment and cultural performances, as well celebrating Maori sporting success, with over 28 Maori World champions, and an amazing range of quality finalists.
